Week 2 - 9th April 2006

The nest building continued with the female carefully placing dead plant material, which became mostly dead grasses, to form a cup in the centre of the box but slightly towards the rear (bottom of the photographs) and then animal hair to line the nest. Rather than carefully placing the animal hair, she sits in the cup and tosses the hair like confetti in a seemingly random direction. At other times, she returns with no nesting material and simply fidgets in the nest cup.

On a couple of nights midweek, she snuggled down in the nest for the night, leaving some time after 6AM the following morning.
