The sunny Sunday of the third week appeared to rekindle our Blue Tit's nest building activities and she started by bringing more dead grasses and such like into the nest. Some of the broad-leaved grasses provoked the entertaining behaviour of the female bringing it in and taking it out over and over again.
Soon afterwards, she started to bring moss, coconut fibre, feathers and hair to the nest. Every now and then, she pauses in the nest box and starts to form the nest cup by shuffling about on her breast and belly and spreading her wings against the nest material.
Midweek, the weather turned cooler and wetter. Consequently, the female spent much less time bothering with the nest and on one day did little more than take a quick look, as if to check it was still there.
