Unfortunately, the progress of the chicks was not followed for a week owing to a pre-booked vacation. However, our return was greeted by the sight of 6 healthy looking, partly feathered chicks. Two eggs were also evident, but there was no sign of the seventh chick - this was presumably either underneath the other chicks or had died at an early age and was quickly removed by the parents.
Their eyes were not yet open, but we expected they would be in the next couple of days. The wing and tail feathers were "in pin" and the feather tracts (pterylae) along the back were darkening.
