The beginning of the fourth week started off frustrating as the female, who we affectionately called Wriggly, remained on the nest until quite late in the morning. During this time, however, the male visited the nest box, popped his head through the hole and fed a caterpillar to her. When she eventually left, nine eggs were revealed, and so she had stopped laying and had started to incubate the eggs.
Through the day, she remained mostly on the eggs, leaving only briefly several times a day. While on the eggs, she would be constantly wriggling about on them. When she was settled, most of the time was spent tugging the animal hair towards her.
Part way through the week, the image from the camera started to deteriorate quite badly and, at times, disappeared completely.
