Looked on your site and I'm pretty sure it was a female Pied Wagtail. Hopefully its a good thing that I have seen it and not instead because they are suffering in their usual environments. Saw a pretty Robin too that day so all in all quite chuffed (pardon the pun)

One greenfinch was coming but I think the nasty but beautiful Sparrowhawk had him for lunch :-(. Absolutely loving watching birds from my house....my partner says i spend more feeding the birds than him hehe

| Wrote... On Sunday morning we were lucky enough to have a beautiful male Bull Finch visit our garden. I've never seen one all the years I have been here. He stayed for a good 30 minutes, first on the crab apple tree then to the feeder.Times like that I wish I had a decent camera to capture the moment. | |

| Wrote... I'm surprised at the concern about low sightings of Goldfinches. Here in my Kent garden I have a flock or 'charm' of more than dozen through most of the day, every day. A couple of pairs have nested in a separate part of the garden annually but I made no special feeding provision. However, this late summer and autumn (2011) I set up two four-way Niger feeders. Immediately I noticed adults and young 'greypates' beginning to use them. Now there are so many around they fight to secure a feeder perch. Others happily feed on fallen seed on the ground below. For an abundance of Goldies I suggest Haiths Goldfinch Mix which is primarily niger and teasel plus some other tiny delicacies. Your garden will be buzzing! David | |
