In 2004 the BTO/CJ Garden BirdWatch Shortest Day Survey was run in conjunction with BBC Radio 4 Today Programme. This year, as in the past 4 years, British Garden Birds is running an independent Early Bird Survey.
The survey aims to find out if the order in which birds arrive at garden feeding stations early in the morning is the same this year as in the past, particularly as there has been a super-abundance of fruits, seeds and nuts in many parts of the country, although acorns seem to have been poor in many parts.
